About the role

Hydro Belize Limited, which operates the Chalillo, Mollejon and Vaca hydroelectric facilities, is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead the company's continued operational excellence, environmental stewardship and strategic growth. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the overall management of the business and affairs of the company, including the safe and reliable operation of its hydroelectric generation assets and the leadership of its workforce.

Responsibilities

Lead development of the company's strategic plan in line with the Board's expectations and medium- to long-term goals.
Develop an annual business plan aligned with the strategic plan and present it to the Board for approval.
Lead implementation of Board-approved plans and the responsible procurement, allocation and disposition of corporate resources.
Provide vision-driven leadership that fosters a corporate culture of ethical practice, personal integrity and social responsibility.
Ensure all operations comply with national regulations and international standards on the environment, safety and energy production.
Serve as the company's principal representative and spokesperson, maintaining strong relationships with employees, regulators and watershed communities.
Ensure generation reliability and effective coordination with the national grid, maintaining the company's obligations as a critical power supplier.
Oversee the operation, maintenance and performance of the generation facilities and infrastructure, including dam safety and water management protocols.
Uphold strong financial management, budgeting, cost control, cash-flow management and long-term financial sustainability.
Enforce a robust risk management strategy and oversee the planning and execution of new energy generation projects.
Drive adoption of new technologies that improve energy production, sustainability and operational efficiency.
Provide the Board with timely, accurate and comprehensive reports on operational and financial performance.

Requirements

MBA and/or a degree in Engineering (power/electrical preferred), Energy Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business Management.
Minimum of ten years of progressive senior management experience in strategic, operational and financial management.
A mentoring and coaching leadership style with demonstrated strong leadership capability.
Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, risk management, occupational health and safety, and environmental sustainability.

Preferred qualifications

Experience in the renewable energy or hydroelectric sector is a significant asset.
