Human Resources Officer
About the role
The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) is hiring a Human Resources Officer at its headquarters in Belmopan on a two-year fixed-term contract, renewable depending on performance and funding. The officer handles day-to-day HR across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, contracts, training and engagement. The terms of reference require CARICOM nationality and residence in Belize.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post terms of reference, screen and shortlist applicants, check references and prepare interview packages
- Draft job offers, verify degrees and run pre-boarding, onboarding and offboarding
- Draft, amend and renew contracts and track contract end dates
- Identify training needs, coordinate training and issue certificates
- Lead employee engagement and rewards-and-recognition initiatives and track retention
- Maintain the HR information system and staff intranet and run data-integrity audits
- Answer employee HR queries and help supervise junior staff
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in HR management, business administration or management, organisational development or public administration
- At least 3 years of experience in HR operations or a generalist HR role
- Sound knowledge of Belize labour law, insurance and Social Security regulations, and benefits administration
- Working knowledge of HR information systems
- Proficiency in English and Microsoft Office
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of payroll and statutory deductions
- Experience working with regional, diverse staff
