About the role

Belize Bird Rescue is hiring a full-time Skilled Handyman & Groundskeeper at its facility on Rock Farm, Roaring Creek (one mile off the highway). The position starts with a 3-month trial period, leading to permanent employment. Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional paid weekend mornings on a rotating basis. No prior wildlife experience is needed; full training is provided. Pay is BZ$350 per week after deductions (about BZ$9.30 per hour).

Responsibilities

Maintain and upkeep the property
Repair and renew aviaries and build enclosures, including welding
Carry out basic carpentry, such as building roost boxes
Handle simple cold-water plumbing and use power tools safely
Operate a tractor for bush-hogging trails and pulling trailers
Weed-eat and mow
Help with basic bird feeding and cleaning

Requirements

Belizean national or resident able to commute daily
Fluent in English and Spanish
Valid driver’s license
Able to operate a tractor, trailer and bush-hog
Basic woodworking and plumbing skills and experience with power tools
Physically fit for outdoor work
Clean police record

Preferred qualifications

Welding experience
Able to drive a manual pickup
