About the role

Belize Sugar Industries is hiring an Electrical/Mechanical Technician at its Big Creek location. The technician maintains, installs and looks after electrical equipment, applying industrial best practices in electrical and instrumentation work and following the company's environmental, health and safety policies.

Responsibilities

Install, service and maintain three-phase, single-phase, low- and medium-voltage AC/DC equipment, including electric motors, motor control centres, switchboards, variable frequency drives, soft starters, lighting systems, cables and cable trays, generators, PLCs and control circuits
Troubleshoot, repair and install electrical circuits, electromechanical machinery and PLC circuits using the available test equipment
Perform electrical installations in line with local code and the NEC
Work with limited supervision, meet targets and carry out maintenance programmes as directed by the supervisor or engineer
Keep detailed work and maintenance records and prepare written reports
Prepare cost-effective material lists for projects and recommend replacement parts when needed
Work with ladders, scaffolds, power tools and lifting equipment, including on rooftops
Other tasks assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

Associate degree or ITVET certificate in a related field
At least 5 years of experience
Valid driver's licence
Public Utilities Commission (PUC) licence
Works well with others and as part of a team
Technical problem-solving skills
Keeps equipment and tools organised
