About the role

WE ARE HIRING! GENERAL MAINTENANCE Shaka Caye Private Island | Belize Shaka Caye Private Island is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and skilled General Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the resort's facilities, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for our guests and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general repairs and maintenance throughout guest rooms, buildings, and public areas.
  • Inspect facilities and address maintenance issues promptly.
  • Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and other repairs.
  • Maintain air-conditioning units, appliances, equipment, docks, and outdoor areas.
  • Assist with landscaping, pressure washing, and grounds keeping.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and supplies clean, organized, and in good condition.
  • Follow safety procedures and report major repairs or hazards to management.
  • Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Recent Police Record.
  • Previous maintenance experience preferred 5 years of experience.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and repairs.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labor and outdoor work.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, honest, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible to work weekends and holidays when required.
  • Good communication skills and a commitment to safety and cleanliness.

Preferred qualifications

  • Technical or vocational training in maintenance, electrical work, plumbing, or a related field.
  • Relevant maintenance certifications or licenses, where applicable.
  • Experience working in a hotel, resort, or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and equipment care.
  • Ability to communicate in English; Spanish is an asset.
