Head Cook
About the role
The University of Belize is hiring a Head Cook for the Calabash Caye Field Station of its Environmental Research Institute. The Head Cook prepares and supplies food and meals for the station and keeps the kitchen building and equipment maintained. The role reports to the Station Manager of the field station.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve beverages, snacks and meals in a timely, orderly and congenial way
- Ensure safe, healthy, quality food for students and visitors
- Clean and maintain the kitchen, including daily pre-preparation, post-preparation and serving, and cleaning of equipment and the processing area
- Store food materials and supplies properly
- Maintain and store equipment, utensils and other materials
- Keep food handlers certificates current
- Clean the kitchen building, deep freeze and refrigerator
- Arrange on-site laundering of linens when necessary
- Keep a current inventory of kitchen equipment and a weekly inventory of food and supplies
- Carry out other related duties assigned by the Station Manager and take part in skills-upgrading courses
Requirements
- Valid food handler certificate
- Cover letter, CV and three recent professional references
- Police record no older than six months (a receipt is acceptable initially)
