Litigation Officer
About the role
St. John's Credit Union is hiring a full-time, permanent Litigation Officer in its Credit Control Department at the Southside Branch. The officer represents the credit union in court on delinquent-loan matters, prepares case files and helps recover outstanding debts under the Credit Union Act.
Responsibilities
- Represent the credit union in court
- Prepare and file summonses, distress and committals, and coordinate with process servers
- Arrange court payments and monitor payments after judgment
- Trace delinquent members and negotiate payment arrangements
- Obtain judgments and suit reports
- Reconcile court payments using the Smart Stream system and maintain the court database
- Prepare monthly collection and court reports
- Assist with transfers, demand notices and collection campaigns
Requirements
- At least an associate degree in business administration, a paralegal certificate, or legal experience or exposure
- 2 years of experience in the legal field
- Knowledge of Belize court procedures and case management
- Microsoft Office skills

- Ability to serve summonses
