Maintenance Technician, Office of the Governor General
About the role
The Office of the Governor General, including the Belize Advisory Council, is recruiting a Maintenance Technician to support the general maintenance and upkeep of its buildings, facilities, grounds and equipment. The post reports to the Administrative Officer (Circular No. 77 of 2026). Terms and conditions of employment are governed by the Belize Constitution (Public Service) Regulations 2014, the Financial and Stores Orders, and the Finance and Audit (Reform) Act.
Responsibilities
- Inspect buildings, facilities, grounds, furniture and equipment, and report defects
- Schedule and carry out preventive maintenance
- List the materials and tools needed and make repairs, or report problems beyond scope
- Manage the workshop, tool room and stores, with ledger and inventory records
- Report loss of or damage to tools immediately
- Ensure safe work practices with heights, tools and chemicals
- Help monitor the work of outside contractors
Requirements
- High school diploma or vocational studies
- At least 5 years of experience repairing and maintaining buildings, furniture and equipment, or in construction
- Understanding of general maintenance methods
- Skilled with a variety of equipment and small hand tools
- Problem solving and prioritization
- Works well under pressure and in a team
