Project Engineer

Tower Hill, Orange Walk

About the role

The Project Engineer plans, coordinates and delivers engineering projects across the sugar factory, including capital works, plant upgrades, maintenance and reliability improvements, equipment installations and process optimization. The role reports to the Sr. Regional Project Engineer. The work is split between office and factory environments, with exposure to heat, noise, dust, heavy machinery and outdoor conditions. Extended hours may be needed during shutdowns, commissioning or crop season.

Responsibilities

  • Manage factory engineering projects from concept to commissioning
  • Prepare project scopes, technical specifications, budgets and schedules
  • Give technical guidance to factory operations and maintenance teams
  • Help troubleshoot major equipment and process issues affecting production
  • Recommend engineering solutions to improve factory efficiency and reliability
  • Work with maintenance to improve equipment availability and reduce downtime
  • Take part in shutdown planning and execution
  • Ensure projects comply with occupational safety, environmental and industry regulations
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce safe work procedures
  • Prepare capital expenditure requests and project cost estimates
  • Supervise technicians, contractors and consultants

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, preferably sugar cane processing, food processing or continuous process industries
  • Experience in industrial projects
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, boilers, turbines, conveyors, pumps and process systems
  • Strong project management, organizational and technical troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards and regulations
  • Team coordination skills
  • Engineering software and Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

Preferred qualifications

  • Professional engineering certification or registration
  • Experience in sugar processing, heavy industry, power generation or process manufacturing
