About the Role – Security Officer | Shaka Caye Private Island Shaka Caye Private Island is seeking a reliable, alert, and responsible Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for our guests, team members, and property. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and strong observation skills while ensuring that security procedures are followed at all times. The role involves conducting regular patrols, monitoring access to the property, reporting suspicious activities, assisting with emergencies, and supporting the overall safety and well-being of everyone on the island. Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish are required. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and island property.
Monitor the island and report any unusual activity or concerns.
Maintain a professional and visible security presence.
Assist with maintaining a safe and secure environment for all guests.
Respond appropriately to security concerns and emergencies.
Work closely with management and other team members.
Assist with general island duties when required.

Requirements

Requirements:
Must be proficient in writing and communicating professionally in both English and Spanish.
Must be willing and able to learn how to operate and monitor the island’s generator and solar power systems, particularly for nighttime operations.
Must have a clean police record.
Previous security experience is strongly preferred.
Must be reliable, punctual, physically fit, and capable of working independently.
Strong observation, awareness, and communication skills.
Professional appearance and positive attitude.
Trustworthy, responsible, and dependable.
Willing to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Previous experience in hospitality, resorts, or private-island operations is an asset.
This position requires someone who can take responsibility for the safety and security of the island while also being prepared to learn and assist with essential nighttime operations.

Preferred qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
Previous experience in security, surveillance, or a similar position is an advantage.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Training or certification in security, first aid, or CPR is an asset.
Good observation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain alert, calm, and professional in challenging situations.
Knowledge of emergency procedures and basic incident reporting.
Honest, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
Physically fit and able to conduct routine patrols.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Experience in hospitality or resort security is an advantage.
