Senior Accounting Clerk (General Ledger)

About the role

Digi is seeking a Senior Accounting Clerk for the General Ledger section of its Finance Division, with duty station in Belize City. The role supervises staff and reviews reconciliations of cash, receivable and payable accounts, and supports the accurate recording and mapping of prepaid and postpaid revenues across revenue streams in compliance with financial reporting standards.

Responsibilities

  • General ledger and financial reporting: review journal entries, trial balances and financial statements, and ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing
  • Revenue accounting and analysis: analyze new services and prepare revenue mappings so prepaid and postpaid revenues are recorded and allocated accurately
  • Reconciliations and financial analysis: perform and review reconciliations of general ledger accounts, corporate tax expenses, deferred income, subscriber receivables and other accounts
  • Supervision and team coordination: supervise staff, coordinate the section's daily activities and conduct performance appraisals
  • Audit and regulatory support: coordinate with departments on documentation for financial and statutory audits, and prepare reports required by regulatory and external institutions

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • At least 3 years of accounting experience in a similar position or within an accounting firm
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and audit principles, and the ability to understand and apply IFRS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills; methodical and detail-oriented
  • Knowledge of financial reporting practices
  • Organized, able to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Effective verbal and written communication with a high level of professionalism
  • Maintains confidentiality and follows company policies
  • Works well in a team and across departments

Preferred qualifications

  • Enrollment in the CPA, ACCA or CGA program
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial Applications
