About the role

Harvest Caye's Operations and Facilities team is hiring Solid Waste Staff to operate and maintain the island's waste-handling equipment, covering waste separation, handling, storage and disposal, and to collect waste from guest areas on a set schedule for recycling. The role reports to the Environmental Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Collect solid waste hourly and daily on a set schedule
Sort solid waste into recyclable categories according to company policy
Operate the incinerator, baler and digester according to company policy
Clean and maintain recycling and environmental equipment
Keep the work area clean and safe and promote environmental awareness
Assist with garbage off-loads
Report improper waste sorting or other policy violations to the department manager
Respond to department requests promptly and professionally

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Able to operate small machinery
Basic to intermediate spoken and written English
Professional, team-oriented and customer-service minded
Able to work 7 days a week and adjust to schedule changes
Able to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs and lift more than 25 lb, indoors and outdoors
Able to pass a basic safety course
